Campana National Park

This park is located approximately 50 kilometers from Panama City.

It is comprised of more than 4,816 hectares and some species in danger of extinction inhabit this park.

Among species found in Cerro Campana National Park, are the "Rana Dorada" or"Golden Toad" and the "Conejo Pintado" or "Painted Rabbit".There are several trails available for those who enjoy trekking and climbing.  The most popular trail is the "Camino de Cruces" .

This trail takes you all the way up the mountain where a cross oversees the whole valley.  The view from there is spectacular. Approximately 2 hours are needed to reach the cross if you stop once in a while for a breather and hike at moderate speed.

It is important that you request a guide to accompany on this trip. It can be dangerous if you don't know the way up.
For their services, guides usually charge less than $20  US  Dollars.

For those of you who don't enjoy trekking, the park still offers spectacular views from an observations point reachable with your vehicle.
