Sarigua National Park

Overview
The Sarigua National Park in the Republic of Panama is divided up three ways between the sea, the desert and fragmented soil lands.  Overall the park is 20,000 acres and is located in the province of Herrera on the coast.

Scientifically and archaeologically, this Sarigua National Park is of great interest.  We have here the remains of the oldest Pre-Columbian Indian villages in all of Panama.  These remains date back as far as 9,000 BC.  It is not unusual to find ancient pottery and tools made of stone which archaeologists from all over the continent study and preserve.  There is a conservation area of the sea part of the park that protects the area where all the shrimp come to give birth.
